Statements:

We acknowledge with reverence and humility that Lantern Psychotherapy and Consulting exists and practices upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas Peoples, governed by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant and the Between the Lakes Purchase of 1792. This ancestral land had sustained and nurtured these communities for countless generations, long before the traumatic horrors of white settler colonization and residential schools began. As we engage in the work of healing and transformation, we recognize and revere the sacred bond that Indigenous peoples share with this land. We take seriously our collective responsibility to repair and maintain our relationship with the land and each other. Lantern is committed to the ongoing practice of decolonization, listening, learning, unlearning, and relating in ways that honor the wisdom of our Indigenous neighbours.

We acknowledge the ongoing intergenerational trauma caused by the transatlantic slave trade and the systemic racism that continues to impact Black and racialized communities in Canada. At Lantern, we are committed to confronting anti-Black racism and dismantling the structures of inequality it creates. We strive to create an inclusive, equitable, and just space where the voices and experiences of marginalized communities are privileged, heard, valued, and supported.

We acknowledge the historical and ongoing discrimination faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, whose experiences of marginalization and violence continue to shape their lives. At Lantern, we are committed to fierce ongoing allyship—protection and support of the goodness, dignity, rights, and well-being of all 2SLGBTQIA+ people are non-negotiables for us. We are devoted to the creation of an inclusive and affirming space that celebrates diverse gender identities and sexual orientations, while actively working to challenge and dismantle heteronormative and cisnormative structures in our practice and beyond.
